About Us
Star Union Spirits, in Peru, IL, is a premier distillery serving Peru, Peoria, Bloomington, La Salle, Chicago, Joliet and surrounding areas since 2018, and now an additional 39 states! We specialize in producing handcrafted artisan spirits using non-GMO Midwestern grains and seasonally-available grapes from California and South America. Our facility is a great location for weddings, birthdays, engagements and parties and we also offer distribution to restaurants, bars and retailers. A visit to the physical location of Star Union Spirits is on my short bucket list! Jeff Yasowitz and I share a business network. Jeff is the face of the fun part of what a craft distillery represents. He sets up tastings at events both large and small. I recently bought sample (airline-sized) bottles to give as marketing giveaways in my own business. I attended a national Realtor network meeting and shared how these samples could be full-sized closing gifts. The possibilities are endless!!

Update
Made a return visit to see my favorite mixologist create another fantastic espresso martini for me and an old fashioned for my husband. This time we got to meet her parents visiting from Minnesota too and a good time was had by all. Really cool setting in the old Westclock factory building. Be sure to stop by next time you're in Peru.

We love finding these local craft distilleries because they do things different than the big corporate distillery and Star Union Spirits is no exception. It's obvious they take great pride in their products and it shows in the results.
Their 75-25 Whiskey is very good but I personally think their Bottled-in-Bond Rye is one of the best rye whiskeys I've had. The higher proof gives it a punch that makes you pay attention and the long pepper finish reminds you why everyone should love drinking a good rye. Full disclosure- I did end up buying a bottle of each for my home bar.
I also want to thank the bartender for being creative with building a grapefruit vodka cocktail and the owner for taking the time to give us an in-depth tour and tell us history about the history of the place.
Highly recommend as a destination for a day trip or just stop by an impromptu happy hour.
